THE PEOPLE'S BREXIT ROADMAP

There is a real need to set the boundaries, ie not expect politicians to guess what we want, or "decide for us".
So we've made this page outlining the shape of changes we're now seeking.
The linked articles will provide additional depth and context for the brief summary text.
Thanks go to everyone who has provided content for this page.

Latest update: 21.40pm Tuesday 30/08/16.
Please do get in touch if you have anything you'd like added.
If you think any of the wording needs to be changed, contact
@DiligentTruth re politics, and @PennyMidasRollo re anything else.

This page should print (landscape) onto 3 sheets of A4.

REQUIRED - PRIORITY

RESTORATION OF *FULL* GREAT BRITAIN
TERRITORIAL FISHING WATERS

"An exclusive economic zone (EEZ) is a sea zone prescribed by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea over which a state has special rights regarding the exploration and use of marine resources, including energy production from water and wind. It stretches from the baseline out to 200 nautical miles (nmi) from its coast. In colloquial usage, the term may include the continental shelf." LINK: HERE

"The United Kingdom's exclusive economic zone is the fifth largest in the world at 6,805,586 square km. It comprises the exclusive economic zones surrounding the United Kingdom, the Crown Dependencies, and the British Overseas Territories. Only the United Kingdom and Gibraltar are part of the EU. The Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and the remaining overseas territories (that is, all except Gibraltar) are not part of the EU. The United Kingdom has not as yet claimed its rights with regards to Gibraltar or the Sovereign Base Areas in Cyprus." LINK: HERE

PAYMENTS TO EU

ANY further payments to EU (from right now) should be suspended until:

(a) article 50 timeframe expired;
(b) EU accounts to date, fully signed-off.

FULL STOP ON "FREE MOVEMENT" IMMIGRATION

* A way has to be found to put a sensible points-based immigration policy in place. * Consideration to be given to annually-renewable work permits for non-native NHS workers, as interim fix till enough native Brits can be trained to fill the gaps. * EU nationals must not be prioritised over our longstanding Commonwealth allies and those who have fought for Britain. * Legislation must be changed to enable the deportation of (very many) non-British criminals.

EXIT FROM THE SINGLE MARKET

"Not only can Britain leave the EU and have access to the single market, we'd actually get a better deal" - good article by Norman Lamont LINK: HERE

REPEAL 1972 ACT vs INVOKE ARTICLE 50

FLEXCIT (maybe an option)

FlexcitThe technicalities are beyond us, but Flexcit offers a detailed plan for phased withdrawal from EU - 400 pages pdf (free download)

Flexcit appears to tie in with the "Article 50" option, but experts disagree on whether to invoke Article 50 or simply pull the plug by repealing sections 2 and 3 of the 1972 EC Act.

Lots of articles associated with FLEXCIT, including stuff like the Liechtenstein Solution to free movement,

MONITORING OF ILLEGALS

Read this article posted anonymously by an asylum Judge. ECHR Article 8 chains UK legal system (little or no room for manoeuvre) and 90% failed asylum-seekers do not leave. TWO problems. Sewage-volumes indicate one million illegals in London alone. Illegal residents need to be located, country-wide. LINK: HERE

Legislation must be changed (1) to allow asylum claims only immediately upon entry to UK (2) to allow immediate interview for such asylum-applications.

It is also requested that Legal Aid for failed asylum seekers and foreign criminals, be ceased. Recent petition located. LINK: HERE

Consideration might usefully be given to offering illegal residents a free flight home and a sum of money to ease resettlement. Yes it will cost us, but less than the current overwhelming pressures on schools, housing and the NHS.

PROVIDING FOR OUR VETERANS

Many veterans need jobs. Meanwhile UK needs an army of people to oversee illegals. Veterans should be given priority for such work.

Veterans should at all times have priority for housing, over economic migrants.

PROTECTION OF OUR BORDERS

Physical protection of our borders is required, and must be made a PRIORITY, including aerial/coastal/radar surveillance, etc. Current resources appear to be:

Just 3 Border Agency cutters (08/06/16): LINK: HERE

Aerial border surveillance scrapped in January 2016 (article 31/05/16): LINK: HERE

MASSIVE CONSTRUCTION PROGRAMME
REQUIRED FOR SOCIAL HOUSING

Social housing available for native Brits has been vastly depleted by (a) provision of accommodation to migrants (b) inadequate levels of housebuilding specifically of social-housing-to-rent. Last related article seen: "How David Cameron plans to destroy Britain's social housing in 7 easy steps" LINK: HERE

GERMAN TAKEOVER OF THE LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE

*MUST* BE BLOCKED. Deutsche Borse would have 54.4% of the shares, London Stock Exchange only 45.6%. Details of percentages in article March 2015, which mentions possible re-location of part of operations to Germany. LINK: HERE

Telegraph article 17/08/16 says deal now going to regulators, and "In June, the head of the German regulator Bafin said it was 'hard to imagine' the combined group keeping its headquarters in London following the Brexit vote" LINK: HERE

The London Stock Exchange must not be allowed to leave London, and any merger that gives a controlling interest to a country outside the UK *MUST* be blocked from going ahead. Might the blocking of Pfizer taking over our Pharma tech, provide some precedent for this?

Neither the London Stock Exchange nor our full British Territorial Waters may be used as a bargaining chip for BREXIT negotiations.

POLITICS

COMMUNICATION FROM PM

We require more direct contact from Theresa May. It is not fitting that millions of people across the UK should have to rely on leaks and press articles for any information.

TIMETABLE FOR BREXIT

Vague statements indicating only "not before 2017" are not acceptable. More than two months have passed since the UK voted for BREXIT and provision of an estimated timetable for leaving is an immediate requirement.

INVESTIGATION ELECTORAL EXPENSES 2015

REFORM OF ELECTORAL SYSTEM

Postal votes need to be restricted to those who are genuinely unable to attend the polling station on the day of a vote, to reduce the potential for voting fraud.

Sir Eric Pickles: 'important that legislation protects "voters of any faith from having their religious beliefs manipulated in order to prevent them freely exercising their vote."' LINK: HERE

Intimidation of voters at polling stations to be prevented.

Full-face photo ID to be required at polling stations and added at time of voting to a national database.

Cross-referencing on day-of-vote required (by name and photo), to ensure that no-one can vote twice and have both votes counted (Charles Moore was able to vote twice, as a test case, see below).

Charles Moore: 'Why was I able to ‘vote’ twice in the EU referendum?' LINK: HERE

MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT

1. MPs serve for a maximum 5 years before being re-selected by the membership of their constituency party. No jobs for life.

2. MPs must live or work in their constituency areas for at least two years before standing for election. No unknown MPs parachuted into 'safe' seats.

3. No MP may have a second job. Being an MP is a full-time occupation if you are truly representing your constituency.

4. Public Referenda to be held on all Govt projects/decisions that bind the country to a lifetime cost of more than £100 billion. No more sweetheart deals like Hinkley, HS2 or Trident.

5. MP salaries to rise in line with average national salaries. No more "0% for you, 27% for me".

6. MPs must declare all income and tax paid. No more offshore-tax-avoidance or hidden conflicts-of-interest.

7. No MP may receive sponsorship directly or indirectly from any source other than their Political Party. No donations from foreign powers to remain silent or vote in their favour.

8. MPs may not claim expenses that ordinary working people cannot claim - eg short-distance fares to and from work, second homes, mortgage interest on 2nd homes, etc.

9. No MP is allowed to attend 'Bilderberg' or any other 'closed' meeting in a personal capacity or otherwise, where fully-open reporting of discussions and decisions is not made public.

PARLIAMENTARY ACCOUNTABILITY

PMQs are half an hour once a week when Parliament is in session, to enable the Leader of the Opposition to ask just six questions of the Government on behalf of the people. These questions have to be provided in writing ahead of the session to enable government researchers to provide Ministers and the PM with the required answers. This is the only opportunity for the public to achieve Parliamentary accountability.

PMQs has become a mockery, a farce, a pantomime, and is seen as an opportunity for the Government to ask themselves self-serving rhetorical questions and to evade, avoid or otherwise misinform and humiliate the Opposition and thereby the public regarding genuine questions asked about government policy and practice.

To ensure PMQs is fit for purpose, it is proposed:

1. The Prime Minister does not ask questions in mockery of the Opposition at PMQs - it is Prime Minister's Questions not Opposition's Questions.

2. All questions put by the Opposition are to be answered as fully as possible. As questions are in writing and produced several days ahead of PMQs, the answers should be submitted to the Speaker for approval as to their completeness, prior to PMQs.

3. There is silence from all MPs while PMQs is in session - constant baying, laughing, jeering pours scorn on the public's right (a) to ask questions and (b) to require accountability.

REFORM OF THE HOUSE OF LORDS

"Members who are not paid a salary may claim a flat rate attendance allowance of £150 or £300 for each sitting day they attend the House." LINK: HERE

The sheer *cost* of "attendance allowance" can be seen from the figures linked from the above page.

The amount anyone in the Lords can claim just for "going in to work" on a single day should be restricted to 1/5 of the average British weekly salary. Travel appears to be paid separately (reasonable, but limits to be reviewed).

The total number of people eligible to sit in the House of Lords needs to be pared down. There appear to be 797 at present. Under no circumstances should there be more people in the House of Lords than there are in the House of Commons. LINK: HERE

HONOURS SYSTEM

Cameron's "honours list" highlighted the inadequacies of the present selection-process. Thorough overhaul of the system required. Potentially, *only* nominations from the public, and *only* agreement from The Queen (taking politicians out of the loop altogether). This would help prevent politicians from being incentivised into voting a certain way, rather than voting in accordance with the wishes of their constituents.

REFORM OF THE "EXPENSES" SYSTEM
BOTH House of Commons AND House of Lords

Thorough overhaul of the "expenses" system required, both Commons + Lords.

STREAMLINING OF LAWS + REGULATIONS

We are aware that it will take some long time to disentangle EU laws that have been written into British law.
However too many petty laws invite inadvertent lawbreaking - see article on US overcriminalization.
LINK: HERE

Meanwhile we would request that firms that do not trade with the EU, swiftly be made exempt from compliance with EU trade regulations.

If feasible, govt. trade departments should look at zero-tariff trade options.

REQUIRED - IN DUE COURSE

BRITISH PASSPORTS

British Passport
We require that our previous DARK blue
hard-cover passports be reinstated.

We request that wording be changed to:
UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN (ENGLAND, SCOTLAND, WALES
AND NORTHERN IRELAND)

CITIZENSHIP

The requirements for becoming a British citizen need to be reviewed. Current requirements as shown on the gov uk site are linked. Citizenship based solely on length of residence should not be an automatic entitlement. LINK: HERE

UNIVERSITY EDUCATION

"Too many universities are failing their students. Only the light of true competition can save them" - Allister Heath LINK: HERE

If Scotland can manage not to charge its students tuition fees, then England should be capable of doing the same.

"UK University Offers Free Degrees For Migrants: Bristol University has unveiled a range of scholarships for what they identify as “refugees and asylum seekers”, allowing them to attend the Russell Group institution for free." LINK: HERE

Free university tuition should be available for all native Brits, as it was before we joined the EU, and students also then received *grants* for living expenses, housing, textbooks, etc.. Restoring free tuition for all UK nationals should be our FIRST PRIORITY.

Meanwhile interest should be FROZEN on all loans to UK-born students.

COLLEGE EDUCATION

Reinstatement of EMA. This benefits *only* the poorest families.

SCHOOL EDUCATION

Reinstatement of the Assisted Places Scheme. This benefits poorer families, and gives more-academic children the chance of a better quality of education.

More grammar schools (apparently already planned) would also be beneficial. Some students are academic and some are more geared towards practical pursuits, and accommodation needs to be made for both.

The teaching of biology could usefully be expanded to cover first aid and the basics of health care, to attract more students into medical careers and thus benefit our NHS.

ABOLITION OF ZERO HOURS CONTRACTS

New Zealand has managed this, so there's no reason why the UK would not be capable of doing the same, in time.

"One day in March an entire country decided to outlaw all zero-hours contracts. No ifs, no buts, no opt-outs." (16/08/16) LINK: HERE

ERADICATION OF "SHARIA LAW COURTS" IN THE UK

Boris Johnson: 'Sharia law in the UK is absolutely unacceptable' LINK: HERE

Boris Johnson: 'Everybody must be equal under the law, and everybody must obey the same law. That is absolutely cast-iron." LINK: HERE

REMOVAL OF JEWISH LAW COURTS,
which also discriminate against women

"When a Jewish couple want to get divorced, a woman has to obtain a "get" from her husband. If he refuses, the divorce cannot go ahead and there is no way for the Beth Din to compel him to do so. This has resulted in ... 'chained women', unable to remarry without consent from their estranged partner." LINK: HERE

Boris Johnson: 'Everybody must be equal under the law, and everybody must obey the same law. That is absolutely cast-iron." LINK: HERE

Either women are equal to men or they're not. British law says they are equal so we must in no way "make exceptions" for other laws that do not give men and women equal status.

ABOLITION OF "RITUAL SLAUGHTER" IN THE UK

"Muslim and Jewish slaughterhouses must now publish the number of animals they kill without stunning first, after leading vets demanded more transparency"   Progress, of a sort, but some way to go yet towards full abolition. LINK: HERE

There have been reports of halal meat being sold to the general public without being labelled as such.

PROTECTION OF UK COMPANIES

Legislation needs to be put in place to prevent controlling takeovers of UK companies by foreign firms, especially re essential supplies like power and water (recent ARM takeover not in this category but still a major loss to the UK).

ADEQUATE FORWARD-FUNDING FOR SPORT

Team GB's achievements in the Rio 2016 Olympics were truly remarkable. Protecting ongoing funding levels is essential. The massive Open Day for Sports on 27/08/16 was notable. LINK: HERE

REVIEW OF STATE PENSION AGE-INCREASES
+ help for the WASPI women

Acceleration of the State Pension Age was brought in far too swiftly, and many women had little notice of their retirement being delayed six years. Once payments to the EU are finally forever-ceased, some redress should be made to these women as well as restoring everyone else to a realistic retirement age.

It has been said that the EU European Arrest Warrant contravenes
one of the oldest articles in the Magna Carta still in force today.
Much else to be renegotiated, perhaps.
